I am finishing my ICA program. Graduation is in December. I started end of April, beginning of May this year.
Was it hard? Of course it was. Was it doable? Good news; Yes. How did I make it in just 6 months? Well, here are the steps that I followed. If anyone finds them helpful, they can also use them.
First I had a very honest self talk. I told myself this is going to be hard, but I can do it. It is going to be hard and better be prepared for it than lie to yourself.
Next thing I did was set a goal. My goal was to finish reading all the materials for the classes I had done already and highlight or make some cards with little notes for my future reference. This is how I learn something new.
After that, the next mile stone was to participate on each call to share my thoughts, no matter how scared I was feeling. That was my goal.
After I built enough confidence in receiving many acknowledgements about my insights, I felt I was ready to go to the next step. My next step was to participate as a client on the calls, and then as an observer.
Finally I was warm enough to talk to everyone and I reached the final stage; coaching in front of my group. I also taught my own teleclass. And that was all done through little steps and commitment.
Ah, I also used my support system that I know that it always gave me results and never failed, praying. Just a simple prayer like this “God help me be an excellent coach today. I need to build my confidence. Amen” That’s it, very simple but strong request. This was soothing and relaxing for me just before the call. After that I wasn’t thinking much of my worries, doubts and fears because I already hand them to God.
